Between Gaza, Be’er Sheva and Bet Shemesh

The Australians liberated Gaza and Be’er Sheva from the Turks in November 1917 and 100 years later they captured Bet Shemesh with their charming smiles and engaging personalities.

This is the twelfth year that a delegation from Australia has come to Bet Shemesh for 3-4 days, staying with Israeli families and sharing with them their wealth of information and their love of Israel and the children of Bet Shemesh.

The delegation volunteered in the schools by painting metal fences and helping out in the classrooms. They left a charming mural that they created together with the students made entirely of recycled bottle caps. The wall mural depicting a bridge between communities will remain in the school as a reminder of the wonderful cooperation and allover enlightening experience.
